[Review ]Viral Factor with SofLens(R) Daily Disposable

tvf
image taken from incinemas.sg

This movie is about a very complex relationship between 2 brothers and a bio-war, simplified.

Two biological brothers were separated from each other since very young. The younger brother(Jon) played by Jay Chou, stayed in China with his mum and grew up to work as an IDC agent. The other, the elder brother(Yeung) played by Nicholas Tse, grew up in Malaysia with his dad and turned out to be one of Malaysia's most wanted bandit.

After more than 2 decades apart, they met.

Of course they didn't know they were brothers at first. The kinship was only gradually discovered as the story goes on with both of them trying to kill each other until their kindship was discovered. Having said that, will you trust a thief when you're cop, even though he's your biological brother?

At the same time, these two brothers were betrayed by the same organisation and end up stranded in between a bio-war which they have to save.

Sometimes, being a bad guy doesn't mean you'll always do the wrong things.

How ethical are you?
It's complicated, isn't it?

Tensing, thrilling yet heartwarming, I love this story.

Compliment to Jay Chou: I saw your effort put in to learning English! Very inspired to keep learning, like you.

[Review] Bridesmaid

Directed by Paul Feig, this is one ridiculously humorous movie.
I was laughing to tears the whole time in the movie theatre with my dearest love, Sim Bin Bin!

As the movie title suggests, the lead actress, this time round, is not the bride but the maid-of-honor, Annie(3rd from the right). It's about her story; how she was down on her luck: her bakery busted, the man she loves just wanted sex with her and nothing else, she got chased out of her rented apartment, her car broke etc.

Perhaps, the only good thing which happened to Annie was that her best friend, Lilian, got engaged, getting married & Annie was going to be the maid-of-honor!

When Lilian introduced Annie to the rest of the bridesmaids, each possesses a distinctive character. A tomboy, a bimbotic mom, want-to-win-it-all-princess-like lady & a gullible girl who just got married.

Girls are girls.
I am a girl.
And girls tend to be more emotional.

There are definitely times when we become possessive of our gfs,
when we get so jealous that our BFFs becomes someone else's BFFs,
when your rival is prettier,
when someone steals your idea,
when no one listens to you.

At times like this, we broke our hearts & sometimes broke the hearts of our gfs too. Most of us though, eventually realize how much we love our gfs & treasure our sisterhood so much that we want to salvage what we truly care about.

Some things you do for someone you truly love in life.

I've been there and done that.
My gfs are part of my life.

This comedy penetrates deeply into the world of gfs; an eye-opener.
In a hilarious & relaxing manner, of course.

The tension of the bridesmaid begins here:

Homecoming 《笑着回家》Movie Gala + Post Party with the cast!

I will watch this again!

A Chinese New Year Movie you'll want to catch with your family and friends. A Chinese New Year Movie you'll want to buy, keep a copy of its original DVD (then no heads will walk past your TV screen) and you can play it over and over again at home for your guests when they come over for house visits!

I've invited dearest Elynn Jie to watch it with me.
It turned out she knows Director Jack Neo and his wife in person since long long time ago. They were chatting together when I came. Elynn jie can dance and sing very well. You should've seen her!

Dearest treated me to popcorn!

Great minds think alike- Salted and sweet popcorn mixed together are the best!
Not many people around me really liked mixed flavoured popcorn.
I've finally found someone with the same good taste as I do- Elynn Jie!

The cast of Homecoming are very experienced in which most of them are movie directors themselves.

Mark Lee, you are already an oscar award winner in my heart. In the movie, he plays an arrogant celebrity chef with a strong honkie accent. The accent is so natural that one would think that's how he speaks in reality. Then again, who doesn't know Mark Lee? His arrogance almost cause him to lose his daughter. In the end, he finally realised that and made up to his daughter for it.

The ultimate budget auntie, Karen Neo (cross-dressed by Jack Neo), is one bargain auntie. A box of Yu-sheng which cost $488 can be sold for $88 at her call. It'll be great to bring her out to the market to buy new year goodies! She portrays a loving mother, a family woman and a kind-hearted lady- with some scenes that really brought me to tears.

Ah Meng, Karen's son, is so adorable! Frankly speaking, Ah Niu can be more natural in his acting. Perhaps the main reason is because there are too many outstanding casts in this movie.
But the part where his mum poured almost the entire bottle of medicated oil on his face and he woke up shouting "fire, fire!" was really funny!

Look out for Liu Ling Ling, she has shared a handful of valuable traditional values in which us, the younger generations, had long forgotten- the true values of kinship and family joy and the importance of reunion dinners.

In midst of all these laughter, let's not forget the many heart-warming scenes which touched our hearts; like the part where Mindy, Mark Lee's daughter, came back for her dad after she ran away from home, the newly wed couple- Rebecca & Wenhong gave up their free Bali trip for the family's reunion dinner etc.

The most remembered quote in the movie that goes something like, "I am better than a car-racer. I am a taxi-driver..." One word to describe when he said that-handsome.

I love films with happy endings. It leaves us with smiles on our faces after the show, and we go home inspired by all these happy endings.

Watch Homecoming yourself and you'll know what I mean.

Brilliant Post-party!

I was invited to the Homecoming post-party event at Gallery Bar @St.James.
You know what we bloggers do best don't you?
Yes, CAMWHORE!!!

A simple, cosy(but very cold) area for the stars to meet up close to close with us.
The cast were present to give us a short presentation about the movie, played some Q&A games and mingled around with us for photo-taking sessions.

Here are the bloggers with OMY.SG(Left to right)

Janet, Me, (i don't know who she is), Estelle, Alvin, Samantha, William, HP.
(front) Elynn Chan

With their help trying to catch the attention of the Emcees, I finally got a chance to answer one of the Q&A questions posted and won this: The Homecoming Soundtrack & limited edition Angbao packets! The soundtrack comes in 6 different versions of the Homecoming theme song sang by the respective cast in the movie, some of which are the ones with the honkie accent.
I wanted this so badly for you(readers) that our table was creating sort of a nuisance in the bar.

This is theme song sung by Jack Neo himself:

Drinks and food were served.
At first Gallery Bar didn't serve us any food and we are hungry!
When Director Neo heard about it, he quickly asked the kitchen to prepare it for us immediately. Thank you Director Jack Neo! We emptied the plate in no time!

He is one work-oriented person. In order to improve on his movie views, he kept asking for our opinions on this movie and also told us some insights- like how this Movie is doing in Malaysia, and how he still loved his passion in acting after so long. He also told us that due to overwhelming requests of other Chinese New Year movies, there has been certain cinemas where he could not get slots to show up Homecoming....

Nevertheless, we still support Local productions, won't we?
Great Success to this movie and cheers for it!

A Chinese New Year Must Have!

What is a Chinese New Year Must-Have?

No, it is not the poker-card game.
Neither is it the angbao money nor the 3-day-3-night mahjong session.
Nope, definitely not just the table of Chinese new year goodies...

It is Joy.
The joy of celebrating this festival.
The joy of having company of your love ones.
The joy of giving and sharing.
The joy of the 3-days-3-nights mahjong sessions,
The joy of laughing and
the joy of stuffing yourself with loads of CNY goodies!

Here's something to add to this joyous collection:
The joy of indulging yourself in a brand new Chinese New Year Comedy in theatres near you!

HOMECOMING
《笑着回家》
Opening Date: 3 February 2011

Directed by Lee Thean-Jeen, this movie is about three individual stories of three different individuals going home for Chinese New Year.

As suggested by its direct-translated Mandarin movie title, "laughing your way home", I was really laughing my way home while watching the trailer on my blackberry on my way home. The cast of this movie is truly a refreshing combination!

Well, you know what happens when international comedians comes together; they make you laugh until you cry! Remarkably, this comedy has got directors acting on scene themselves! There's Mark Lee, Jack Neo, A Niu(he's still so cute!) and Malaysian multi-talented writer-director-comedian Afdlin Shauki! Beat that! The movie also starrs actors and actresses Jacelyn Tay, Huang Wenhong, Rebecca Lim, Koe Yeet & Liu Ling Ling. See I told you, it is such a refreshing combination!

To add a pinch of local flavour to the show, there is a well-mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian acting in the movie(what I see from the trailer)- To reflect Singapore's multi-racial society. In addition, the productions have been to our neighbour country, Malaysia, to film this movie! Friendly!

Mark Lee with his brand new Honkie Accent,
Jack Neo has a new feminine role after 11 long years,
A Niu now becomes someone else's son?

New accents, new faces, new roles, new cross-dressings, new attempts to the movie industry, my question is what new humors are they going to create this time?

They DARE to climb,
They WANT to try,
Mint will definitely SUPPORT!

Look,I found the movie's theme song on youtube:

Megamind 3D & The nicest grandmother in the world.

She has touched me;
Made me something which I will treasure for life.
I will make it part of my wedding decoration regardless of what.

She, is none other than Jackie's(my bf) Grandmother, who has worked a whole day just to sew me a big red ribbon for my dress up party. She's the nicest, nicest, nicest grandmother in the world!

I had been looking up and down for a big red ribbon for my head and i can't find it. She happened to know and offered to help me sew one.

Awww...

I feel so helpless that I can't do anything except to help her thread the needle.

This is how the final product looks like:

I can't wait to watch MEGAMIND 3D.

There was a dress up party at the gala event and many of us came dressed up as Superheroes. Have you figured out what I'm going to dress up as yet?

It's Blossom from Powerpuff Girls!

And here are my other 2 girls:
Samantha as Bubbles and Claressa as Buttercup.
The cutest thing is that Samantha even brought an octopus toy!!!

Here comes the Mascot: Megamind himself. Everyone went crazy over taking photos with him!
The lady with the PPG in the picture below is Gin Wong. She dressed up as the female reporter in Megamind- Roxanne.

Oh, and I get to meet Xiaxue for the very first time, what an honour!

The happiest thing today is that I met Jewl there as well. She was Gin's guest.
Yingzi, sweetest as ever, helped us looked after our bags while we were asked to take photos in front of the poster. Love her to bits! Look how funny she is trying to hit the head of Megamind!

William, the superhero dash up of the escalator looking all swift and well, superhero-like. He's dressed up as himself as the superhero! :) Hpility had the coolest Tee today-It says, "I'm Not A Blogger. I just Tweet A Lot" When a reporter meets another reporter. They interview each other.

Do we look like blind people coming to watch a movie? Hilarious right?

Everyone is really satisfied with Megamind 3D.

Megamind, the main character, was always being outcast no matter how well he tried to behave when he was a child. It was then that he decided that since he can't be the best, he would be the worst! And thus, Megamind was born.

He was a Supervillian for many years, but with a heart of gold. He did all of those things a Supervillian should not have done: Fell in love with the reporter, save people; and a little dumb.

The most absurd thing which happened in the story:
Megamind defeated his childhood enemy, Metroman. He felt his life so meaningless because now there was no one to stop him from doing his crimes. So Megamind invented a new superhero to try defeat himself.

Did he manage to succeed in the end...
Watch the official trailer:

Mint gives Megamind 5 out of 5 stars.

I love this trailer MORE MORE MORE because it gives more details.
The part when Megamind narrates "Metroman wins some, I ALMOST win others..."
is SUPER HILARIOUS!!!

Megamind is always optimistic.

Thank you for the great laughter, Megamind.
And thank you Samantha and OMY for this great invitation!
