[Mint.Music.Lifestyle] Oooosh, N.E.mation! 9 Has Begun!

Hello from Hong Kong!

First of all, I'd really like to apologize for accidentally reformatting my memory card.
All the photos I took at the Nemation! 9 Top 100 Pitching event from my camera are gone!!!
(And the ones I took at Doubletree by Hilton in JB too!)

Fortunately I still have a few of selfies left on my iPhone!
*selfies alert*

N.E.MATION! 9 TOP 100 Pitching

It's my first time attending a pitching session. I'm thankful to be able to listen to the students share their ideas from the initial pitching. Since N.E.Mation!5, I have only been able to actively participate in the top 10 production, so it is really just a glimpse of what the rest of the students actually have to share.

To me, being able to follow N.E.Mation!9 through from the top 100 pitching is indeed an amazing experience, and there is aways so much to learn from their stories and determination.

As a typical Singaoorean would say: "Pattern 多过 badminton".

These students really put in a lot of effort in preparing for the pitching, to make sure that they leave a lasting impression on the judges.

Photo grabbed from N.E.mation! Instagram.

At the end of the day, my heart felt recharged and filled with passion once again.
These students, chasing their dreams and doing their best to get into Top 10.

Who says that they are the 'strawberry generation'?
They have so much more to give than you can imagine.
These students are patriotic, grateful and dedicated, no less.

= Random Team 1 =
This all girls'  team did a research on Singapore's Pioneer Generation and found a rare write up of this veteran nurse who has been caring for the patients at IMH for 40 years.

They shared how Sister Gali (Ms Therese Ann Galistan, 62 years old) inspired them by taking up this challenge to take care of her patients at the Institute of Mental Health.

It's a job which a lot of younger nurses wouldn't want to do yet she takes pride in her work.
They credit her for her contribution in the society and planned to work on doing more research about her. She is still alive today.

If not for this team, I would never have known Sister Gali and her amazing contributions towards Singapore.

KUDOS!

Article of Sister Gali I found online:

= Random Team 2 =

This team is one of the most passionate teams I've met that day.
First of all, they've prepared so much props from boards, flip charts, drawings to staging up a short skit (lying on the floor,  rolling on the floor), to singing their own composition and even blowing baby powder into mid air to mimmick a haze situation!

Determined I'd say.
Well prepared.

Take a look at the highlights of the Top 100 Pitching.

This year, the top 20 teams of N.E.mation! 9 also received a token of appreciation from the organisers!

Watch the highlights of the Top 22 Super Pitching here.
Fascinating storyboards and one can tell just how much preparation they made all in a week's time.

After a week of pitching and waiting here they are,
the top 10 teams of N.E.mation! 9.

[Mint.Music.Lifestyle] My Nose Fillers Done At The Face Aesthetic Clinic, Only More Grateful Everyday!

I was staring at this photo of Zir and I for about an hour and tears started to well-up in my eyes.
Silver and I have indeed came a long way from where we first met, through thick and thin.

When she suddenly popped up at my door step with a gift from Taiwan I could just plant kisses all over her face all night! I could never have asked for more in life than having her as my bff.

Thank you, Zir!

Taking a closer look, I know that my side profile could never have looked better if Dr Zhang Yijun from The Face Aesthetic Clinic hadn't done my nose fillers for me last Christmas.

I mean, look at the difference!

Before:

After:
(Image taken today at home)

It wasn't easy to convince myself to doing this and took me at least a year to finally book an appointment.
I have a fear for injections and pain.

I got Zir to accompany me for the first few appointments. Then persuaded Colin and also my mom to follow me to the last session. All the people I love most were down at Dr Zhang's clinic that day.

Mint, 你真的有酱怕吗?!
是的,请不要怀疑。

After getting his help with regards to my adult acne issue (now it's under control *touchwood*), I decided to take a step further with The Face Aesthetic Clinic to get my nose fillers done.

My pain threshold is extremely low.

Getting my first pair of ear holes pierced felt like an atomic bomb landed on me when I was 16 years old.
The entire Westmall could hear my cries for help like I've just got stabbed in the heart.
Blood tests felt like someone chopping my hand off and I'd start wailing like a baby in the hospital.

IT IS THAT DRAMA.

So before I allow any doctor to perform any form of injection procedure on me,
I MUST have complete trust with that doctor.
Also, he must be able to calm me so that I don't scream and
scare away his other patients who are waiting outside. :p

Dr Zhang, I CHOOSE YOU!
Pokemon pun-intended, haha.

First Appointment At The Face Aesthetic Clinic

I don't think I have a nose bridge at all as you can tell from my side profile.
My nose from my side profile looks flat especially the area in between my eyes.
The lower half of my face looks like it's protruding outwards.

Before:

The Numbing Process
Zir, you MUST hold my hand when Dr Zhang executes the treatment okay, don't keep playing with my nose first.

To make me feel more comfortable through the process, I was given some numbing cream on the nose first.
The procedure is going to commence in 30minutes time!

Look at my worried face as I signed the consent form.
Dr Zhang and the Nurse ensured that I understood the clauses and agreement before I signed the document.

Meanwhile Le Bff was self-entertaining herself with Selfies and being my personal photographer of the day!

And out of nowhere she passed me this stress ball to ease my stress.
It's Christmas period, remember?

Dr Zhang then moved on to access my nose before the procedure while Silver tried to distract me by asking me to pose for the camera. I still looked a little worried here, don't I?

Nose Fillers Injection

Let the treatment begins!
But first, can I borrow a comforting hand?

There I go.
Ask Silver and she'd tell you how sweaty my palm was.

The filling process ended in less than 10 minutes.
I was like 'Huh, finished already?'

Hey, it wasn't so bad afterall!
There weren't any stinging effects like I thought I would with injections,
or those pain I would go through during the usual drawing of blood.

In fact, all I could feel is a slight pressure on my nose several times,
and at most this little teeth-sensitive sensation with my two front teeth when Dr Zhang was injecting close to it.

Mint's Pain Index level: 2/10
*If Mint can endure the pain, so can anyone else!*

Tip: Always let the doctor/therapist knows if you're afraid of pain.

Massage The Nose

After the injection, Dr Zhang gave my nose a good massage to make sure the shape is nice and pretty.
Then he also taught me how to do it so that I can massage it from home.

"How you like your nose now?"
*Dr Zhang passes me a mirror*

I exclaimed in excitement, "Oh My, Dr Zhang, I have a nose bridge now!"

I. AM. REBORN.

After:

Before & After:

I like my side profile much better now.
The lower half of my face doesn't look that awkward now.

First of all, I got my adult acne under control with Dr Zhang.
Now he saved me again with nose fillers.

After I've done my fillers, some friends from facebook actually asked me if I went for a double eyelid surgery or did something to make my eyes bigger.

Nope, I wouldn't dare.
All I did was nose fillers.

This goes to show that having a higher nose bridge does make a difference in one's appearance.

Photo taken immediately outside Dr Zhang's treatment room:

I don't know about you but I felt that having a nose bridge makes my face looks slimmer too!
A post-treatment photo with Zir to celebrate my accomplished mission:

It was so natural nobody could tell I've just gotten any nose fillers done.
I was already taking public transportation back with myDreamGuy that very evening.
Of course if you asked I'd tell you.

Back at home that night, I was so vain I couldn't stop admiring my new nose bridge.
Here's another selfie!

Follow Up Review

I was back at Dr Zhang's clinic after one week for my review and touch up (if necessary).
Here's how my nose looked when the fillers settled down after a week:

*I'm smiling*

There's still a slight arch in between my eyes.
I started out with a totally flat nose bridge so it definitely takes time to fix this.

Dr Zhang says we need to do a touch-up.
OKAY and this time round, I'm more prepared.

Hello Stress ball Santa, we meet again!

For the benefit of those friends who are also afraid of the needle too, I'm going to spare you from seeing my nose being poked by the needle again.

Same thing as the first time, Dr Zhang helped to massage and clean up my injection wounds.

Here's the final picture of my nose after it's done,
Tadah!

I've never imagined myself with a nose this beautiful until I see it with my own eyes.

Of course, babygirl was there with me for the follow up session.
I told you I couldn't have done it without her.

For the next 2 weeks, I was advised not to go for suanas, suntan, washed my face with hot water etc.
2 weeks, however, was just in time for my 28th Birthday bash at Sentosa, oh yes!

Here's to Dr Zhang, bff Silver Ang and The Face Aesthetic Clinic,
Thank you for giving the best Christmas + New Year + 28th Birthday Present ever!!!
