I've always been an avid supporter of dream-chasers.

I gave up a stable education job to explore the entertainment industry.

I never looked back since. 

I witnessed my friends quit banking jobs and now they are successful musicians, 

lawyers-to-be now doing full time photography,

Full time HR employees starting their own fashion boutiques and eventually, their own fashion brand.

Just to name a few. 

So when my best friend from secondary school decided that she wants to start her own nail salon, I'm all set to support her nail business to the best I can. 

Imagine, we were sitting at this cafe having tea and yummy ice-cream waffle 2 months back, chit-chatting about our future goals and POOF! 

Manicure Mermaid is born. 

My best friend, Sharlene, has always been a diligent, future-oriented, smart and creative person from the first day I know her (We were 13 years old then. She's my classmate who sits in front of me.). From our school days til we eventually starting out in the work force, she's always one step ahead of me and in control of her life in terms of success and focus.

She has a '大姐' image and I've always looked up to her for advice in life. 

Our birthdays are just 1 day apart in January. 

They say Capricorns are highly ambitious, practical, down-to-earth, determined and has a strong sense of responsibility.

I can't agree more. 

Sharlene takes pride in her work and is FOCUS in getting what she wants in life. 

And now, this little dream of Sharlene is coming true, taking baby steps at a time. 

I'm proud to have her doing my nails for me from now on and can't wait to explore into the beautiful world of nails and blings with this special friend of mine. I'm updating her wonderful designs on the side bar and my instagram as we progress so keep in touch!

I came to know about something else:
Girls girls, how can you NOT know what Gelish is and what difference is it from normal nail polish?!

Well, actually I don't know about it as well until I got my first gelish manicure done!

Regular nail polish chips off too easily when doing your house chores.
You won't want your beautiful nails to wear off before attending that wedding dinner this weekend!

Gelish STAYS; for up to 3 weeks with minimal chipping off and fading.

It's the 3rd week now and my pink nails are still 100% intact despite after cooking and washing dishes almost everyday, sweeping the floor, showering, exercise, wear my jeans, practise on the Ukelele and all those activities which will RUIN my normal nail polish by now!

No problem eating crabs too!

When applying the normal nail polish,  you only have to do it with the base coat and then the colour polish that we want. Gelish, however, includes many steps of applying different layers of coating.

Step 1: "Ph Bond" (dehydrates your nails),
Step 2: "Foundation Gel" (applying a base)
Step 3:  "Colour"
Step 4: "UV tanning" - The gel nail polish dries immediately with a UV/LED lamp
Step 5: "Top Coat"

This is also why gelish can last up to 3 weeks with minimal chipping or fading of nails! Also, gelish can be applied on to your natural nails without causing the damage of your nails due to acrylics.

Best of all, you leave the nail saloon with your nails COMPLETELY dry and ready to dip into your wallets and bags to look for your items, unlike the common scene of avoiding staining your new nails when you do normal nail polish.

Normal Nail Polish takes up to a few hours to dry.
Gelish dries up in 10 MINUTES.

I did pedicure as well.
FOR THE FIRST TIME.









I never allow myself to do pedicure due to sensitive toes and fungus infection on my big toes.
I like what I've done; to see my toes smiling at me prettily. :)

My nails were always long until my keyboard instructor, Alvin Khoo, said I shouldn't keep them when I'm learning how to play the keyboard.

So I had them cut and kept short.

After 8 weeks of intensive keyboard course at Ocean Butterflies Music Forest, I have learnt BASIC comping techniques, read and understand major/minor chords, find song chords and play them smoothly with the keyboard. This course is efficient. Even though I'm not good enough to do a keyboard performance yet, I can play and find all the chords for my new songs. Also, sing and play songs I find on the internet.

This is a major step in my life.
Just 8 weeks ago, I don't even know what's a middle C.

Alvin Khoo, our keyboard instructor, is really good at simplifying musical terms and making you understand the basics of keyboard playing within a short amount of time.

I've completed my intensive pop keyboard class!

But my nails ...
They were short. plain. yellowish.

I need manicure!
Every other night before I sleep, I'd look at my nails and thinking how nice it'll be if there were still long, and then I'd paint them with sweet colours with designs.

But who says you can't have pretty painted nails when you nails are short?
I'm really escalated to tell you that two days ago, I did my FIRST gelish nails!

Evangeline, introduced by Zir at the LJH Hankook Workshop, painted and designed them for me.  I feel that Zir is also my fairygodsister who encourages and helps me to become a better person. :)

Evangeline Love can clean and paint nails REALLY fast.



The previous times I did french manicures at other shops, I took more than 2 hours.
She did my nail art in about an 1hour.

Her quiet and cosy hideout has become one of my favourite places to go to for relaxation and gossip corner. I thoroughly enjoyed her company and bubbliness which totally brightened up the rest of my day.


I told her I've never done gelish nails nor nail arts before and that she is free to draw what she feels like.
Here's the final result and I LOVE IT, especially the rainbows!

Not only that, the rainbows are painted with neon colours which will glow under UV lights! So excited that I forgot to take the rainbows under the UV light. BOO!

I didn't know gelish nails that dry IMMEDIATELY after the manicure.
Tasks like dive into your wallet to get your card, go toilet used to be a chore for the next 2 - 3 hours when I do normal manicure because I didn't want to ruin my nails.

Not anymore with my gelish nails.
I can even practise my Ukulele wahahaha!
