Spookie...Not.

This is a whole experience.
I gave my virgin visit to a Funeral Parlour on Thursday.

Together with William and Adeline, we were there at the Ang Yew Seng Funeral Parlour
to film for Channel 8's On The Beat Variety Show.

This parlour provides Funeral Parlour Rentals- classy and elegant. Best of all it's air-conditioned, furnished with baroque-designed wall and a chandelier, fully equipped with clean toilets, a shower cubicle and a TV room with sofa couches. I heard that they provide 24hour/7 service, where attendants will attend to you upon request.

That's me filling up the Mediacorp Agreement Form. The bottles in the foreground were free from the parlour.

When William said, "look! There's a monkey on the tree!" I thought he meant a real one. The toy one looks cute anyway.

What's more, we got to see bathing dogs-one after another!

Through the filming, I got to know about coffins. In the past, the coffins took really long to be cremated. The founder of this company, the late Mr Ang Yew Seng, spent his entire life designing new types of coffins to shorten the cremation process. His daughters have since took over to run the company-capable successful women. And mind you, they've got both the intelligence and the appearance.

Through the introduction for the show, I also learnt that we could customise the decorations and displays in each parlour.

Take for example, the deceased is someone who used to love to bake muffins alot, loves to knit. You may arrange for some of the items made and loved by the deceased to be put on display in the parlour.

Here is the address:

Thank You, 都是大发现.
Thank you, William.
Thank you, AYS for the willingness to empart the cultural knowledge.

Catch this episode on Channel 8 very soon!

GV Yishun Renovation Party + PCK movie premiere

I prepared this especially for last Wednesday's Gala:

You guessed it, i hadn't worn the yellow boots which I'm supposed to.

Well you know me-I'm always hungry;
Yong Wei and I had reached as early as 4.30pm after his YOG performance at Yishun ITE so we decided to grab some appetizers before the Sumptuous buffet later in the evening. That's Sushi at Northpoint's Japanese Foodcourt @Level 3.

Here we are at Yishun Golden Village, the first ever multiplex in Singapore.
Built way back in 1992, The multiplex consists of 10 halls which can screen up to 10 different movies at a time. Back then, this was a big ho-ha. After 18 years of rain and shine, this multiplex is ready for its biggest make-over.

It is honoured, i'll say, to be able to join the last few hundred people to watch the last movie screenings here, to bring back nostalgic memories of my family movie outings together.(something which will never happen again)

That's HP, Yong Wei and William posing for my camera(below)

Oh yes, GV was extremely generous. You can take my word for that. Besides giving away each movie ticket with a goodie bag fill with a regular pack sweet popcorn and a bottle of orange juice with pulp, the organisers arranged a cocktail reception buffet for ALL media and their guests! Plus, we were given 2 movie premiere tickets to watch Phua Chu Kang The Movie.

Each of us got two tickets each, which i didn't know at first. Anyway my mom has been a great sport because at 6.30pm, she rushed down from Queensway to attend the movie premiere with me!

This young lady(below) is Thiang.

At the party, we were supposed to dress up like construction workers. Tiang is most probably the hip-piest construction worker that day. Have you guessed by now who was she imitating? Yes! A combination of Rosie and Phua Chu Kang! her hair-do was bunned up matched with leggings like Rosie, and a big white shirt representing Phua Chu Kang.

Innovative, isn't she? :)

This is pure coincidence. I met Jie and she has also invited her mom to the movie premiere. I reckoned that our local productions are always suitable for everyone, from the young to the old. Now at least there's a movie suitable to watch together as a family rather than just cartoons.

From the left: Silver's Mom, Auntie Anna, Silver and my mom.

Phua Chu Kang The Movie

Definitely something familiar yet different from watching its series on Channel 5. I know it sounds ironical. But wait until you finish reading my explanation for this. The humour, the slang, Rosie's exagerrated make-up and nonetheless,Phua Chu Kang's laughter. Did these ring a bell to you? On top of the familiarity of the above said, the movie has more emotions, more than just the clean English they always speak of. Definitely something refreshing.

The story has more meaning filled in- to have filial piety towards your grandparents, to trust your partners and that it's never too late to tell someone that you love him/her.

Oh yah, if you're thinking of re-painting your house anytime soon, watch PCK and they'll tell you all about the colourless, odorless and customize-abled Nippon Paint, alot advertising throughout the story.

Gurmit Singh rocks the world!!!

In the movie, he acted the roles of multiple characters. Other than PCK himself, he is also his own grandfather and the younger version of the grandfather. He is so natural!

The last part of the story became rather impractical and draggy. Lim Lap Pey, the incorrigible Director from the Elderly home played by Henry Thia, managed to escape from the police not once but TWICE. How is that possible to sneak out from the police car when he's already been caught? The story probably ran out of ideas later...

In short,
It's a freaking hilarious yet meaningful movie, go and watch it!

No wait, that's not all.
The renovation party is not over yet. Apart from the goodie bags and movie screening, PCK and Rosie also came in person to attend the party. They 'snooked' the emcee with their unique 'par-quek'(parquet) and 'Hor-noured'(honoured) english vocabulary and gave us a good laugh.

Last but not least, Hall 6 was filled with momentos of the cinemas for us to take away, a piece of the old Yishun GV before it's New.

Look at the photographs below, they had cut out pieces of the carpet and framed it up for us to choose from-the blue patches with a star in the middle. The rows of number tags which you see were taken from the cinema seats which we can keep as momentos as well.

I thought we couldn't take the posters hung at the side of the hall. the truth is, we can! I wanted the IP Man poster so much and was rammaging through the boxes of posters to no avail. In the end, I took a photo of it for memorance. In the end, YONG WEI took it home!!! ROARRRR....

Yishun GV, i'll see you again with your brand new look on 3rd November 2010!

Ironically...

There are 2 joyous occasions for me to celebrate despite it being the first day of the Hungry Ghost Festival.

*TOUCHWOOD*

First and foremost, Bubble finally had his 3rd Vaccine and Microchip Injection; I can bring him out for walks and to socialise with others in a week's time! He sleeps throughout the entire journey to and from the Pet Farm.

He even looks sleepy when he's finally awoken. I told Juztin to give a basic grooming session, which is why he looks so much neater now (look below) as compared to...

this!

Second but not the least, My Syrian Hamster has given birth! She's now a proud mother of 10, no 11, no 12...(I lost count)

Dan Dan has faked her pregnancy once. I left her at my cousins' house. At first she was swollen in her abdomen. In the end, the swell was gone when she was supposed to give birth. DD's mom was the lucky one, she saw through the entire process. In the morning, Dan Dan gave birth to 4 little pups first. I think she couldn't take it anymore for when she felt a 2nd birth coming, she banged on our bedroom door and woke the whole family up at about 8.30am.
She was right.
I managed to film down the 2nd birth!
(i broke the clip into 2parts as you read on)

In fact, I have trouble counting how many because she covered them up hastily as soon as they were born. Then, we can't go too near to the nest for fear the mother might cannibise her pups if she smell something unfamiliar. Worse, the babies looked like little maggots wriggling their bodies in the air and cramped together in a pile-I can't make out which are the heads, the hands and the limbs! You'll get what I mean when you've watched this video below.

As if in a swimming pool, the pups moved around in backstroke style.

They will stopped for a minute and you'll think it's dead. Before you can catch your breath back, Dan Dan comes along and grabbed one in her mouth. You will think that she is going to eat up the baby but else, she's just putting them back safely into the comfy nest before going to her next darling. All this time, you will keep holding your breath back, hoping Dan Dan doesn't sense your presence. I think she'll make a perfect and dedicated mother.Check out the video on how she tries to build a cosy nest for her family.

Hey come on, i feel really excited alright.
I AM A GRANDMOTHER NOW!!!! Wohooo!!!

I've been hearing how other people were saying the difficulties in keeping pets. From my perspective, it's not the pets which they dislike to keep, it's the responsibility they have to take for keeping one.

Boyfriend probably owns us all. He's all excited and up taking really good care of every pet. He'll walk quieter, speak softer, even patiently transmitting food and more sheddings using a pair of disposable chopsticks via a tiny opening of the cage-bit by bit- to Dan Dan. It's uncommon to see such a big guy overly meticulous when taking care of his pets.

That's why i love him so. <3

All Aboard!

Something irreversible had happened today!
The Jpeg and PSD formats of my namecard was saved in my digicam memory card to be sent for printing. The china-born guy who served us at this printing shop did something to my memory card, which I don't know what-the-fuck, and the memory card was REFORMATTED. Go and learn how to read ENGLISH.

I would have skinned him alive!

When something turns negative in life, the first blame should be on oneself;
My stupidity for saving it in the digicam memory card.

Sigh.

Those photos can never be replaced again!
They were taken on the Singapore Flyer- there was this 30s fireworks video, YOG performance at the floating Stage, NDP2010 rehearsal at the Padang, photos of Mum, DD and I on the flyer, the breath-taking night sceneries and the lighting up of spotlights on ALL the skyscrapers 30sec before the YOG fireworks, YOG performers at their rest area and how they walked up like a nest of ants to their performing stage.

I am extremely upset about this;
Never gonna bring this issue up again.

The Flyer ride was complimentary given by the Big Walk.
The fireworks from a sky view was such a bonus for me.
A pity i can't share the mesmerizing sights with you.

FUCK UP.

Mediaviewing at Dragonfly

"Welcome to Dragonfly!"
Or so this is how my CCBs(Chao Chee Buddies) reacted at the entrance to welcome me.

You don't really have to worry about the music level if you're sitting at one the dome-shaped VIP tables. These specially designed compartments can amplify your voice so that friends sitting opposite you can hear you perfectly as well.
(When Yongwei was speaking to his friend, i thought who was talking behind me when there's already a wall.)

What is 'eating to your heart's content'?
THIS IS!
(That's only 7 out of the 15 over items we ordered)

From left: Evan(Nave), Me, William and HP

With the new food menu at Dragonfly(St. James),
stop worrying what to drink,
start worrying what to eat!

The menu is bilingual-english and chinese.
How thoughtful!

These finger food items, bolognaise, lasagna and spaghetti will definitely satisfy your taste buds!

The top dish is my favourite of all- Codfish Tofu with wasabi mayonnise.
Crispy on the surface, melting soft on the inside.
The mayonnise is a well-mixture of wasabi & mayonnise just enough to tease your tastebuds, leaving behind a crave for more codfish tofu. I can finish at least 3 baskets myself!

The above picture looks like common meatballs to you, doesn'
Known as Balls Of Fiery-this dish matches its name perfectly.
As you mince on the meatball, it sends you tiny waves of spiciness.
Want to add some spice to your life?
Try the Ball Of Fiery for a change. :)

This hongkong style turnip cake shown above is also a must-try-
which reminds me of our local delicacy-the carrot cake.
It's been cut into bite-sizes;
Ladies do not have to worry about spoiling your image.
Go for a dip in the black sweet sauce and chilli that comes along with the dish,
you will not regret you ever done that!

There's a saying about heavenly food being fit for the emperor;
I'll say that good service should be included in this package as well.
Candy, who serves us, certainly deserves to get an Employee-of-the-month incentive.
She sincerely attended to our every request. Not to mention her patience in explaining the new food & drink menu. On top of that, she wasted no time serving our food to us-piping hot.

Candy doesn't want to have her photograph taken.
So, try to make out how she look like from the background instead. (below)

We have a new Happy Hour Band- Hacker(China) at Dragonfly! (click on the link and scroll down to Dragonfly to find out who sings live there!)

This talented band played popular songs including Hotel California, 新不了情, 你最珍贵 etc. So don't think they only know songs from the mainland!

The band is accompanied with vocalists like Sylvester Sim and Norah.

The candid shots tells you that we really enjoyed ourselves alot,
no kidding!

Join the Dragonfly facebook group now.
Thank you OMY, Dawn and of course Dragonfly for a wonderful Happy Hour Evening!
