Mid-year is officially here and I thought my first post for the next half of 2013 will be about SPORTS.
That's right, what better way to get myself motivated to keep in shape and stay healthy?
EXERCISE!!!
It starts with thinking about it. :p
An overwhelming response of 210 teams, over 600 participants, took part in Mediacorp's Meon3 Ultimate Streetball Challenge and spent a fulfilling weekend playing basketball in the middle of Orchard Road!
I'd say I'm very smart because I manage to beat the crowd and reached the venue earlier at 12 noon to find myself able to manoeuvre myself comfortably in the crowd on the second day.
I heard the crowd on the first day was MADNESS.
挤得水泄不通~
Prior to the final showdown, I was at the Meon3 Basketball Clinic held at Anglican High School, learning more about basketball with Bloggers Smith Leong, Maybeline, Benjamin and Celebrities Jeffrey Xu and Elizabeth Lee. Read about my previous Meon3 post here!
I mean, where else can you find a basketball event with:
#1: Studio recording cameras filming down your matches
#2 Celebrities like Pornsak who's hosting the match?
PORNSAK OMG PORNSAK!!!
#3 Beautiful Gorgeous BLACK Spalding basketballs to play with!
#4 Ronald Mcdonald Mascot giving out attractive prizes and photo-taking session
#5 Handsome and tall Singapore Slinger-player, Steven!
AHHHHH!!!!
#6 Free flow of 100 Plus to quench your thirst in this scorching weather!
Organised by MediaCorp and held at Ngee Ann City, the three-on-three basketball tournament was a huge success, seeing the outdoor atrium full of curious onlookers, basketball-lovers and star-struck fans coming down to support this extravagant event.
MEon3 (Me-on-3) The Ultimate Streetball Challenge is one of Singapore’s biggest 3-on-3 competitions which was held at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza on 15 and 16 June 2013.
Divided into 8 different categories, the top three teams from each category will win sports apparel vouchers worth S$1,000, S$600 and S$400 respectively, while the top eight finishers will be entitled to a special prize.
I wasn't dressed appropriately for the event because I have to host another event later in the evening but I really wished I did because the games prepared were games I've always loved to play! I wanted to try the basketball-related game booths but I was freaking scared that my dress might drop when I throw the ball.
That would've been extremely embarrassing. :p
I can't wait for the matches to start!!!
But wait, what's this commotion about -Techno-disco revived?
Why is everyone on Kee-qiu mode?
I HAD TO Squeeze in front to check out what's going on.
Ohhhh!!!
Mcdonald
That's Ronald Mcdonald playing games with the audience and giving out attractive prizes!
There was the fixture board showing the teams who were still in the game.
While waiting, some of the teams are trying out the basketball-related games at the various booths located all around the venue.
Spotted this boy who is so pro at the shooting game:
Over at the slam-dunk court, more players were trying out slam-dunks. There are 2 baskets, a shorter one on the left for the girls to try dunk a basketball.
In many courts, dunking is NOT ALLOWED.
It's really a blessing to have a dunking court for us to try out dunking.
I WANT TO PLAY!!!!!
But I'm wearing a dress, OH MAN.
Look at the guy on the right in mid-air.
That looks so cool!
I've always imagined myself being able to hang at the basket. :p
In this game, you've to score 10 goals CONSECUTIVELY in order to be the top scorer. Top scorers get to write their names on the whiteboard. :)
The games finally began with all 5 courts (if i'm remembered correctly) in use.
Teams have to report to their respective courts for a 7-minute challenge to score as many goals as possible.
To read about the rules and regulation of the matches, read here.
Match Time!
I really love this random shot:
Supporters cheering for their friends:
We have foreign friends too!
The girls' matches are equally excited!
Spotted my poly classmate, Victor, as one of the referee!
Hello Victor, you are very SHUAI!
As the match got more intense, I can't help but notice the expressions on these players:
IT'S WAR.
I still prefer friendly matches like what these. awwww….. :)
Interesting triplets on the court. :)
By 3pm, the crowd doubled.
every court was flocked with curious people and supporters cheering for the teams.
Go go go!
While enjoying the matches, I found myself seated in a shady, unblocked spot and started on my complimentary mcdonald lunch + a COLD COLD COLD Drink. Wohooooo~!
SHIOKNESS Index 10/10!
See you at the next Meon3 Event!
